Despite Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo’s ban on public meetings, supporters of suspended Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan have rushed to the streets in anticipation of her homecoming rally.

Miller Dantawaye, the commissioner of police for Kogi State, reaffirmed the government’s order on Monday, highlighting the planned rally’s violation of the law prohibiting political meetings.

He asked Akpoti-Uduaghan to cancel the Kogi Central Senatorial District’s planned Sallah rally.

However, recent images circulating online from Tuesday, April 1, show enthusiastic supporters holding placards in solidarity with the suspended lawmaker.

The inscriptions read: “Welcome home, worthy daughter of Ebiraland. The people of Okene are solidly behind you,” and “The people of Adavi are solidly behind you.”

The show of support comes amid rising political tension in Kogi State, as loyalists continue to rally around Akpoti-Uduaghan despite the official ban.
