Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for rejecting what she called a fraudulent attempt by certain individuals and groups to remove her from the Senate.

The Senator expressed her gratitude to INEC for standing firm in defense of justice and the constitution, resisting pressure from undemocratic forces both within Kogi and the Senate. On Thursday, INEC declared that the petition seeking her recall did not meet constitutional requirements, adding, “Therefore, no further action shall be taken on the matter.”

In her response, Akpoti-Uduaghan released a statement, saying, “God has exposed and shamed the anti-democratic forces behind my recall, including former Governor Yahaya Bello, who is currently wanted by the EFCC.”

She went on to emphasize, “The voice of the people is the voice of God. No one—whether it’s former Governor Yahaya Bello, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, or their allies—can undermine the mandate freely given by the people of Kogi Central without facing disgrace.”

Reflecting on her confidence throughout the ordeal, she said, “I never feared because I have a God who never fails, and the unwavering support of the people. The rejection of the recall effort is a victory for justice over injustice. INEC has proven its independence, and history will remember this act of justice.”

She added, “I commend INEC for standing firm against the forces of darkness and ensuring that the law prevails. To God be the glory, we have triumphed once again. This is a significant victory over those who thrive on manipulation, election rigging, violence, and corruption in Kogi Central and beyond.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan also warned, “Mark my words, the days of corrupt politicians, whose trademarks are violence, rigging, and manipulation, are numbered. The era of change is upon us.”

In closing, she thanked Nigerians, especially her constituents in Kogi Central, for their steadfast support. “I remain committed to delivering justice for the oppressed, freedom for the captive, and contributing to the greatness of Nigeria. Thank you to all those who champion justice.”
