Popular Nigerian comedians Oluwaseyitan Aletile, popularly known as Seyi Law, and Adebowale Adedayo, aka Mr Macaroni, found themselves in a heated exchange on Thursday over conflicting accounts regarding the origins of Macaroni’s rise to fame.

The drama began when Seyi Law took to his X.com page, claiming he played a pivotal role in kick-starting Mr Macaroni’s career.

According to him, Macaroni once pleaded for a skit opportunity during Seyi’s mother’s birthday in January 2020. He said he not only agreed to help but also wrote the script that helped launch Macaroni into the spotlight.

“I remember my cousin, #toluthejesusbaby, kept encouraging me to meet this young talent,” Seyi Law wrote. “He eventually brought him to my mother’s birthday. I agreed to support him, wrote the script, and acted alongside him. The rest is history. Many skit makers have used my signature ‘Yeeee! Yeeeee!!’ without ever paying royalties. But kudos to their success.”

In response, Mr Macaroni publicly refuted the narrative by sharing screenshots of past conversations, claiming it was actually Seyi Law who first reached out to him in December 2019 with a proposal to collaborate.

“Uncle Seyi, I’m honestly disappointed. It’s painful to have to address this publicly,” Macaroni replied. “I never asked your cousin to reach out. You contacted me first with a skit idea. You invited me to your mom’s birthday not the other way around.”

Macaroni also challenged the suggestion that Seyi Law gave him a platform, pointing out that by early 2020, he had already gained considerable popularity with his “Daddy Wa” character and had close to 100,000 followers on social media.

“I’m grateful for the collaboration we did it was a good moment,” he acknowledged. “And I supported your show when you asked. But let’s keep the facts straight.”
