The former member of the house of representatives in Anambra state, Hon Nicholas Ukachukwu has wins the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial ticket for the governorship election in the state.

Ukachukwu secured the ticket at the party’s primary election held on Saturday, defeating his closest rival, Valentine Ozigbo, and other contenders by a landslide.

The former House of Representative member polled 1,455 votes while 101 votes was shared among other contestants like Ozigbo who secured 67 votes. Edozie Madu 26 and Johnbosco Onunkwo got 8

The Anambra governorship election in the state will hold on November 8, 2025.

Ukachukwu while apeaking after his victory pledged support to deliver the state to the APC.

“We shall deliver Anambra to the APC. One thing I want to say here — nobody has won the governorship of Anambra without my support; it has never happened before,” he said.

“I have been playing godfatherism role before, but now I want to be the father of the father — no more godfather.”

Some hours before the primary election, three aspirants withdrew from the exercise.

They include Chukwuma Umeoji, a former federal lawmaker; Obiora Okonkwo; and Paul Chukwuma, who has since resigned from the party
