Josephine Abyei, a South Sudanese woman, has publicly congratulated her husband, Mayen Koor, for taking a second wife, Arual Cyer Mayardit.
In a Facebook post on April 7, Josephine expressed her support for her husband’s decision, writing, “Congratulations, my husband, for bringing us our second wife.”
The post quickly garnered praise from many social media users.
“You are a real wife material, congratulations to you both,” commented Joseph Bith.
Kamilo Kuch added, “Congratulations to both of you. Keep it up for supporting and standing by your husband.”
Deng Peter praised Josephine, saying, “Congratulations to Mayen and Arual. Having such a kind-hearted first wife is truly a blessing.”
Edo Baba expressed his admiration, writing, “A good woman who understands that marriageable men are rare, so she allowed her husband to help depopulate the streets. Polygamy will help reduce the number of women on the streets. Josephine Abyei is a good woman, unlike those who refuse to share their husbands.”
Joan Masika also praised Josephine, stating, “Josephine Abyei is a good woman, and she will go to heaven. She congratulated her husband for marrying a second wife. She’s happy, with no drama whatsoever.”
However, some expressed skepticism about Josephine’s genuine support. Agoth Alisto commented, “This is not enough. Her words are too brief; maybe there are hidden emotions. She just congratulated him, but deep down, maybe she’s not happy.”
Chan Baak Deng also expressed doubt, writing, “This woman isn’t congratulating her husband wholeheartedly. There’s likely a hidden agenda.”
Meanwhile, Insight Media reported that a Nigerian woman, Buithat Lawal, also took to social media to announce that she is seeking another wife for her husband. She clarified that she is looking for someone who is kind, loving, wise, and of good character, and emphasized that she does not want a co-wife who will bring jealousy or cause conflict.
