In a major political development, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai have reportedly agreed to adopt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the official platform for a new opposition coalition.

According to exclusive information obtained by Insight Media, the decision was reached during a high-level meeting held on Tuesday night, which extended into the early hours of Wednesday.

A source familiar with the discussions, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the formation of the coalition.

“The African Democratic Congress has been adopted as the coalition party. All of them including Atiku, Obi, and El-Rufai are working together,” the source revealed.

“The agreement was finalized during a meeting that lasted through the night. You know, politicians often meet while the rest of us are asleep. All key leaders and stakeholders were present.”

The insider added that several committees were established during the meeting to handle operational and strategic planning ahead of the coalition’s public launch.

“Committees have been set up to refine the details and prepare for the formal unveiling. But as of now, the coalition is effectively in existence,” the source said.

When asked about the date for the official announcement, the source responded, “There’s no fixed date yet, but it will happen very soon.”

The reported alliance between these prominent political figures marks a significant moment in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape and could reshape opposition dynamics ahead of future elections.
