The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has expressed openness to the return of former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, should he decide to rejoin the party.

Ganduje made the statement on Tuesday at the APC national headquarters in Abuja during a visit from the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata.

“The APC is committed to deepening democracy in Nigeria,” Ganduje said. “Kwankwaso is like a fish out of water trying to return to familiar waters. We’re open to him after all, a friend in need is a friend indeed.”

He added, “If your son seeks refuge and you have a big house, it’s only natural to offer him shelter.”

Minister Ata, a former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, reaffirmed his loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, stating, “We are solidly behind Tinubu and working diligently to secure Kano for the APC in 2027.”

On the waning influence of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Ata remarked that its time was passing in Kano. Though personally hesitant about Kwankwaso’s return, he acknowledged, “If the national chairman accepts him, I will follow suit.”
