Following the recent endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term by three Osun State senators from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on them to take their support further by officially joining the ruling party.
The senators Francis Fadahunsi, Olalere Oyewumi, and Olubiyi Fadeyi—publicly backed Tinubu’s re-election bid during a gathering in Abuja on Tuesday, despite their affiliation with the opposition.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the Senator Ajibola Basiru Campaign Organisation (SABCO) and signed by Professor Aderemi Ajala, APC’s National Secretary, Dr. Ajibola Basiru, commended the lawmakers for recognizing Tinubu’s achievements and urged them to align fully with the APC.
“This endorsement reflects the positive impact of President Tinubu’s leadership and his Renewed Hope Agenda, which is already delivering results across Osun State,” the statement read. “Such acknowledgement by opposition lawmakers shows statesmanship and honesty, especially in areas like infrastructure, economic reform, food security, and national safety.”
Dr. Basiru further encouraged the senators to abandon the “troubled” PDP and formally join the APC to help usher in sustainable development in the state.
“Joining the APC will strengthen efforts to bring meaningful progress to Osun State, especially as we prepare for the 2026 gubernatorial elections. A unified front will enhance initiatives in key areas such as education, agriculture, healthcare, and economic growth,” he stated.
He concluded by calling on the senators to demonstrate bold leadership by aligning with the APC, just as several other lawmakers across the country have done. “Now is the time to act in the best interest of Osun State and Nigeria,” he said.
