The Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) has praised the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, for his transparency and sense of accountability in the aftermath of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

In a statement issued by its Executive Secretary, Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose, BON applauded Professor Oloyede for his openness in acknowledging the human and technical errors that impacted the conduct of the examination. The group described his decision to take personal responsibility as a rare and commendable act of integrity and courageous leadership.

“Professor Oloyede’s candid admission and resolve to address the issues demonstrate commendable leadership and a strong commitment to accountability,” the statement said.

BON also welcomed the corrective actions taken by JAMB, particularly the rescheduling of examinations for candidates affected by technical disruptions. This, the organization noted, reflects JAMB’s dedication to fairness and equal access to educational opportunities.

Furthermore, BON highlighted the collaboration between JAMB and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in managing the situation, describing the partnership as a positive example of inter-agency cooperation.

The organization urged other public officials to adopt similar standards of transparency and accountability, noting that such values are vital for building public trust and enhancing the nation’s image.

BON reiterated its commitment to promoting ethical leadership and called on stakeholders in the education sector to prioritize integrity and responsiveness in their service delivery.
