R&B singer Chris Brown has been remanded in UK custody until June 13, 2025, in connection with a serious assault charge stemming from a 2023 nightclub incident in London.
The 36-year-old artist was arrested early Thursday at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester after arriving in the UK by private jet. Authorities charged him with “grievous bodily harm with intent,” alleging that he attacked music producer Abe Diaw with a bottle at Tape nightclub in Mayfair on February 19, 2023.
Brown appeared Friday before Manchester Magistrates’ Court, where District Judge Joanne Hirst denied his bail application. He is set to remain in custody until a plea and trial preparation hearing at Southwark Crown Court in London on June 13.
This latest legal development puts Brown’s European tour in jeopardy, including sold-out shows in the Netherlands (June 8) and Germany (June 11). He is also scheduled to perform in Germany on the same day as his court appearance.
A two-time Grammy Award winner known for hits like “Kiss Kiss”, Brown has faced a series of legal issues over the years.
In 2009, he was convicted of assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna, and has since been involved in multiple incidents, including allegations of sexual assault, domestic violence, and altercations with other celebrities.
Despite his musical success and global fanbase, Brown’s career has frequently been marred by legal controversies and violent episodes.
