Afrobeats sensation Davido, born David Adeleke, has revealed that if his life hadn’t taken him into music, journalism would’ve been his calling.

In a recent interview with Atlanta’s 96.1 The Beat, the Nigerian superstar opened up about his deep interest in media, communication, and self-promotion areas he says he’s more hands-on with than many of his peers.

“I genuinely enjoy doing promo and having conversations,” Davido said. “A lot of people don’t realize I studied marketing alongside business management. I love to talk and promote myself. If I had a podcast, I could go on for three or four days straight,” he joked.

Davido highlighted how crucial media engagement is for any artist, stressing that it’s a key part of his brand and career.

“Some artists shy away from the press, but I don’t. I love talking, learning, and absorbing new information. Even at home, I’m constantly researching. If music hadn’t worked out, I’d definitely be a journalist.”

He also addressed the effort behind his massive online presence, noting that his social media success isn’t accidental.

“Some people in my position would just sit back, but I’m always active,” he explained. “People wonder why I have the most followers it’s because I put in the work. Look at Beyoncé she’s a great example of someone who stays committed regardless of success.”
