Popular Lagos businessman and socialite Emeka Okonkwo, widely known as E-Money, has urged Nigerians to stop spraying money at parties, calling the practice illegal and disrespectful to the national currency.

In a Thursday Instagram post, E-Money echoed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)’s position, labeling currency spraying as an abuse of the Naira.

“Let’s celebrate responsibly and avoid fines. Respect our currency,” he wrote, encouraging people to use designated boxes for money gifts at events rather than throwing cash into the air.

His warning comes shortly after he was reportedly interrogated by the EFCC over allegations of spraying both Naira and U.S. Dollars at social functions.

The EFCC has recently stepped up enforcement of currency abuse laws, particularly targeting high-profile individuals involved in public spraying or defacing of money.
