Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic motor accident that claimed the lives of five people in Danbatta Local Government Area on Sunday.

In a statement issued on Monday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, the governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and the Danbatta community.

The accident occurred near Shantake, about seven kilometers from Danbatta town, as the victims were returning to Kano from Bauchi, where they had accompanied a newlywed bride to her marital home. Tragically, the return journey ended in the loss of five lives.

The victims included members of a single extended family. Alhaji Surajo lost two of his children, while his younger brother, Alhaji Salisu Dan Raino, lost three.

Governor Yusuf described the incident as a “devastating loss that has cast a shadow of grief over the entire state,” and offered prayers for comfort and strength for the bereaved.

“This tragedy has deeply affected us all. The pain of losing loved ones in such a horrific manner is unimaginable. On behalf of the government and people of Kano State, I offer our deepest sympathies and prayers to the families, the Chairman of Danbatta Local Government, and the entire community,” he stated.

The governor also pledged the support of the state government to the affected families and prayed for the souls of the departed to rest in peace, and for their loved ones to find the strength to endure the loss.
