The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has officially handed over Obi Levi Obieze, a native doctor and crime suspect, to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation.
This development was confirmed on Friday by the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter).
“ONGOING: @nigimmigration, Lagos State Command hands over wanted suspect, Obi Levi Obieze, to @LagosPoliceNG at the Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja,” the statement read.
Obieze, also known by the alias Levi Obu Onyeka, was apprehended on May 29, 2025, at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road while attempting to flee the country on a motorcycle.
According to the Nigeria Immigration Service, his arrest followed credible intelligence linking him to the abduction and suspected ritual killing of a 13-year-old girl in Isiagu Community, Enugu State. He is believed to be one of three men who allegedly kidnapped the girl on May 27, 2025, while she was walking to the farm with her father. She was later rescued from a shrine allegedly associated with Obieze.
The Comptroller General of the NIS, Kemi Nandap, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Thursday through the Service’s Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi,
“The suspect is a male individual wanted by the Nigeria Police Enugu State Command for alleged involvement in abduction, kidnapping, and ritual killing,” the statement noted.
Obieze, a native of Umuajor village in Enugu State, was identified through a National Identity Management Commission enrollment slip found on him at the time of his arrest. He is also reported to have confessed to the crimes during preliminary interrogation.
Further investigations are now being handled by the Lagos State Police Command.
