Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano State and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has disowned a viral statement making rounds on social media, describing it as entirely false and politically motivated.
In a message posted on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, Kwankwaso firmly denied authorship of the statement, labeling it “false, unfounded, and a product of political mischief.”
He wrote: “My attention has been drawn to a statement purportedly stating my position on the recurring political realignments in Nigeria. I wish to categorically state that such statements are false, unfounded, and products of political mischief.”
Kwankwaso emphasized that he has deliberately avoided making public comments on recent political developments and intends to maintain that position for now. “I have refrained from commenting on contemporary political events, and I will continue to do so for now,” he stated.
He urged Nigerians to rely only on information released through his verified channels, cautioning against the spread of misinformation.
“In this regard, I urge the public to only engage with statements that come from my public handles and other official sources,” he added.
His clarification comes amid growing speculation over political realignments and possible defections ahead of the 2027 general elections, where Kwankwaso remains a key figure, especially in the North-West region.
