Nigerian singer and rapper Lil Kesh has opened up about his views on marriage, revealing that he doesn’t believe in the institution.
Speaking candidly during a recent appearance on The Esther Show, the ‘Shoki’ hitmaker cited the high failure rate of marriages and the pressure that often accompanies them as reasons for his stance.
Currently single, Lil Kesh shared that he has no immediate plans to get into a relationship. He revealed that his most recent breakup was a conscious decision to focus on his personal growth and career.
“I’ve been single for a while now,” he said. “When I ended my last relationship, it was because I noticed I was thriving more on my own. My peace of mind and my focus were better aligned when I wasn’t trying to juggle a relationship.”
While he’s open to the idea of meeting someone who could change his mind, he admitted that dating isn’t on his radar.
“Being in a relationship means committing time and energy, and I’m just not in that space. I’m 31 now, and thankfully, my parents understand that I’m on a different paththey’re not pressuring me to settle down.”
On the subject of marriage, Lil Kesh was clear: it’s not something he believes in at least for now.
“Maybe one day, but at the moment, it’s not even a consideration. I’m not looking to make anyone my baby mama or wife. It’s not about being a playboy it’s just that I genuinely don’t believe in marriage. Too many end in divorce, and I’ve seen too many people unhappy in their unions.”
Despite his reservations, he acknowledged that successful marriages do exist, but emphasized the need for emotional maturity.
“I want a happy home eventually, but I know I’m not ready for that yet. And I’m not willing to compromise someone else’s happiness just to check a societal box.”
