Nigerian comedian and actor Mr Macaroni has candidly spoken about his reluctance to get married, citing fears of emotional vulnerability and the possibility of one-sided love.
The 32-year-old content creator, whose real name is Debo Adebayo, opened up during a recent episode of Dating in Lagos. He explained that although he hasn’t dismissed the idea of marriage completely, it’s not something he’s currently pursuing.
“When I start to catch feelings, I usually pull away,” he revealed. “It’s not that I’m against marriage I’m just not thinking about it right now.”
According to him, his hesitation comes from a fear of giving himself fully to someone who may not feel the same.
“I’m scared of committing my life and emotions to someone who might not reciprocate. That kind of heartbreak can really mess me up,” he said.
Mr Macaroni also acknowledged how emotional pain can interfere with his work and focus.
“When I fall in love, I go all in. But if that person hurts me, it throws me off. At this stage of my life, my career is my priority. That’s where I’m putting all my energy. Marriage isn’t on my radar at the moment.”
Even so, he admitted he’s been in love before and still has feelings for someone from his past.
“It’s not like I’ve never been in love. There’s someone I truly loved and still love but a lot of circumstances have kept us apart. We’ve faced many challenges.”
