Nelson Adepoyigi, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the state’s Ose Local Government Area, has been abducted by gunmen.
Adepoyigi, the APC chairman in Ifon Ward 5 of Ose Local Government, was reportedly kidnapped on Monday evening along the Benin-Ifon-Owo motorway.
At the time of reporting this article on Tuesday, the circumstances surrounding the occurrence were still unclear.
Confirming the event, state Police Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade stated that the lawmaker was kidnapped at the gate to his property.
Ayanlade said, “I can confirm to you that the chairman APC ward 5 was kidnapped at the entrance of his farm along Ifon-Owo road.
“At the receipt of the report, the DPO Ifon, in collaboration with the hunters, local VGN and Nigeria Army personnel, have launched a manhunt for the suspects.”
The command urged anyone with information that could aid the rescue operation to come forward.
Citizens are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
