The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that just 1.16% of underage candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) demonstrated exceptional academic ability.

According to figures shared on JAMB’s official X handle (@JAMBHQ), only 467 of the 40,247 underage candidates scored high enough to be deemed exceptionally talented. These results form part of the 1,955,069 UTME results processed so far.

JAMB stated that while the underage candidates were permitted to take the exam, further assessment stages remain before any final conclusions can be drawn.

The board also reported examination misconduct involving 97 candidates, with another 2,157 under investigation for possible malpractice. Additionally, 71,701 candidates were absent from the exam.

JAMB is currently reviewing cases of biometric verification failures, with affected candidates likely to be rescheduled. Results for blind candidates and the JEOG category are still being processed.

A press briefing is expected soon, during which the board will provide further updates and officially open the result-checking portal.
