A self-acclaimed cleric, identified as Alfa Jamiu, also known as King Welder is currently cooling his feet at the Correctional Centre after he was arraigned over the alleged rape of a 20-year-old lady in Osun.
Jamiu was dragged before the Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Ede on Thursday.
According to the victim (name withheld), the incident occurred on a Sunday while she was doing her regular chores.
Narrating her ordeal exclusively to InsightMedia, the victim said she has never had any encounter with the accused until the fateful day.
She said Jamiu told her that she has a “spiritual husband” and asked if she would be willing to drink a concoction to be delivered from it. She ignored him and went back to her shop.
“But it did not end there. On Monday morning, he walked past my shop and told me to come to his. I was confused and possibly afraid, but I went.
“When I arrived, he asked about my relationship life. I told him about my ex. He told me to write my name, my ex’s name, and my phone number on a piece of paper. I complied. Then, things became even stranger,” she said.
“He told me to lift my clothes and held the paper near my private part while chanting incantations. He then asked my to remove all six of her waist beads. He took them and returned them that night.
“When I returned, he brought out a chair and began speaking inappropriately, asking if we could be together. I tried to leave, but as he touched my lap, I felt spiritually paralyzed. “That is when he told me I was a fool,” she said. “And from there, I did not know what I was doing anymore.”
She described what followed as a series of spiritual commands, chants, and alcohol. He made me pray over the beads and bathe before wearing them again. That night, she said, he raped me. My body stopped responding. my mind went blank.
He threatened me not to tell anyone or I would die. He dropped me near me house and gave me ₦1,000. I did not feel alive when I got home. ”I went out looking for poison — Indocid — but couldn’t find any,” she added.
For days, I stayed silent. He called again, pretending to continue “helping” me. Still confused and shaken, I went. He repeated the rituals, gave me alcohol, and forced me to recite incantations. Only when I returned to my shop and my senses clear. “I started crying,” she said. “I realized I had been manipulated, raped, and fooled.”
“Eventually, I told a family member, then my mother. My father reported the incident to the police that night, and a formal case began. The matter is now in court, and she is demanding justice — not just for herself, but for every girl silenced by fear.
“I want the judgment of a rapist to be given to him,” she said. “He did not just take my body. He took my mind too.”
