A 39-year-old man, Kabiru Oyedun, who escaped from the Ilesa Correctional Centre in Osun State, has been rearrested by the Lagos State Police Command.

Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed that Oyedun was apprehended around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, in the Ayobo area of Lagos.

His arrest was carried out by officers from the Ayobo Division as part of ongoing efforts to prevent criminal elements from infiltrating the state.

Oyedun had fled the correctional facility through a breach in the prison wall caused by a severe downpour.

In response to the escape, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) launched a manhunt and offered a N5 million reward for information leading to the fugitives’ capture.

He is set to be returned to custody and transferred back to Osun State.
