The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroji, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.

Nguroji said the incident occurred at Mararaban Vimtim on November 4, 2026, at about 8pm, following a disagreement between the suspect and the deceased over roasted meat taken from a butcher’s table.

“In the course of the misunderstanding, the suspect allegedly used a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest,” the statement said.

According to the police, the incident was reported at about 8:45pm by the deceased’s father, identified as Markus Gabo.

Following the report, operatives attached to the Mubi North Divisional Police Headquarters visited the scene and found Markus lying dead in a pool of blood.

The police spokesperson said a knife believed to have been used in the attack was recovered, while the suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

He added that the victim’s corpse was evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre, Mubi, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.

The command said the suspect and the case diary would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

Nguroji also urged residents to resolve disputes peacefully and report disagreements to the police rather than resorting to violence.

The incident comes days after a farmer, Samson Gabriel, was reportedly hacked to death by his neighbour, Lekan Oyebamiji, following a disagreement over money in Akinlalu, Osun State.

Residents said the incident had triggered tension in the community, forcing some people living near the two men to leave their homes for fear of police arrest.

A resident disclosed that Oyebamiji allegedly attacked Gabriel with a machete during an argument linked to money.
