Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has called on young men and women in the state to seize the opportunity of the ongoing recruitment into the Nigerian Army, highlighting the diverse career paths now available within the military.

In a statement issued by Olumuyiwa Ojelabi on Tuesday from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, the governor announced that registration for the 89 Regular Recruits Intake for Trades and Non-Tradesmen/Women will end on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, at a stakeholder engagement held at the palace of the Olofin of Isheri Olofin, the governor emphasized the evolving nature of military careers.

“It’s time for a shift in perception. The modern Army offers more than combat roles—it provides opportunities in technology, education, and career advancement,” Salu-Hundeyin stated on the governor’s behalf.

The forum, which included parents, youth groups, traditional and religious leaders, and artisans, was aimed at raising awareness about the personal and professional growth potential within military service.

“Joining the Army not only allows individuals to serve the country with pride but also grants access to professional training in areas like law, medicine, and aeronautics,” Sanwo-Olu added.

He assured that the state government is committed to supporting qualified candidates from Lagos throughout the recruitment process.

Responding at the event, the Olofin of Isheri Olofin, Oba Olasunkanmi Lawal-Bello, commended the initiative and pledged to encourage youth participation in his community.

“I applaud Governor Sanwo-Olu’s dedication to youth development and his THEMES+ Agenda, particularly in education and healthcare, which aligns with our own values,” the monarch said.
