The Saudi Arabian government is reportedly preparing to finance Victor Osimhen’s high-profile transfer to Al Hilal, with the deal potentially worth up to €50 million. The Nigerian striker is said to be in advanced negotiations over a permanent move from Napoli.

According to Sky Sports Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Osimhen is directly negotiating personal terms with Al Hilal president Fahad bin Nafel. The proposed contract could see the 26-year-old earn up to €17.5 million annually, including bonuses.

However, the transfer remains subject to approval by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Sports. The ministry’s ‘financial viability’ committee has yet to authorize the release of government funds required to complete the transaction.

“While personal terms are nearly agreed upon, Al Hilal cannot finalize the deal without the necessary financial backing from the Saudi government,” Tavolieri explained. “The club is awaiting the full amount before contacting Napoli to close the agreement.”

Despite the pending approval, sources say all parties are optimistic the move will go through. Osimhen has reportedly conveyed his desire to join the Saudi Pro League champions directly to bin Nafel. If finalized, he is expected to sign a three-year contract.

This marks a major twist in Osimhen’s transfer saga, as he had previously been linked with top European clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United, and Juventus. However, his wage demands reportedly deterred serious bids from Europe.

Frustrated by a lack of concrete interest from Manchester United, Osimhen turned his attention to Al Hilal, opening discussions following what was described by Foot Mercato as an “underwhelming” approach from the Premier League side.

Osimhen remains under contract with Napoli until 2026, with an option to extend until 2027 if no deal is reached. Nonetheless, with the striker pushing for a move and Al Hilal backed by significant government support, a transfer now appears increasingly likely.
