Cristiano Ronaldo has sparked intense speculation about his future at Al Nassr with a cryptic message shared on X (formerly Twitter), hinting at a possible departure from the Saudi club.

“This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all,” Ronaldo posted late Monday night.

The message comes as his contract with Al Nassr nears its end this summer, prompting widespread rumors about his next move.

The timing of Ronaldo’s statement coincides with a major disappointment for Al Nassr, who suffered a 3-2 defeat to Al Fateh on May 26, 2025. The loss crushed their hopes of qualifying for the AFC Champions League. Despite Ronaldo scoring his 25th goal of the season which brings his total to 99 goals for the club, his efforts were not enough to secure a win.

Al Nassr briefly led during the match, but defensive lapses allowed Al Fateh to stage a comeback. The setback, combined with Al Hilal’s victory over Al Qadsiah, officially eliminated Al Nassr from Champions League contention.

Now, the club’s only chance at continental competition rests on the outcome of the King Cup. If Al Ittihad wins the title, Al Nassr could still secure a place in the AFC’s secondary tournament.

This defeat marks a significant turning point for both Ronaldo and his team, casting uncertainty over what comes next.

Throughout his legendary career, Ronaldo has played for Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Al Nassr, in addition to his record-breaking tenure with the Portuguese national team. His recent milestones, scoring his 900th career goal and making his 1,200th professional appearance highlight his lasting impact on the sport.

Though Ronaldo has used similar phrasing in past transitions, this latest message leaves fans and pundits wondering what the next chapter will hold. Whether he returns to European football, appears in the upcoming Club World Cup, or pursues a new venture, the football world is watching closely.

As Ronaldo put it: “The story? Still being written.”

So far, neither Ronaldo nor Al Nassr have issued an official statement regarding his future with the club.
