Nigerian sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan recorded her fastest 100m time of the season 11.18 seconds (1.8m/s) at the Racers Grand Prix in Kingston, Jamaica, part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver series.
Competing in lane two for Racers Track Club, Amusan placed fourth in a fiercely contested final in front of a crowd of 15,000. The top four finishers all notched season-best performances, with the top two achieving the 2025 World Championships qualifying standard.
Amusan had a reaction time of 0.198 seconds and shaved a full tenth off her previous season best of 11.28s, set in March at the Velocity Fest.
This was only her second flat 100m race of the year and just her third in over a year as she continues to diversify her sprint profile beyond her trademark 100m hurdles.
The race was won by Jamaica’s Tina Clayton in 10.98s from lane three, followed by American Jacious Sears (11.04s) and Jamaican teen Alana Garren Reid (11.16s). Amusan held her own in fourth, ahead of Tina’s twin sister, Tia Clayton, who clocked 11.24s for fifth.
Since November 2024, Amusan has been training in Jamaica under legendary coach Glen Mills at Racers Track Club, a strategic move from the U.S. aimed at enhancing her flat speed to strengthen her hurdle performances.
Her 2025 sprint season so far includes times of 11.41s (heats) and 11.28s (final) at the Velocity Fest, and an 11.26s finish at the Tom Jones Memorial in Florida.
