Babcock University in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, has expelled a student, Oladipupo Siwajuola, following serious allegations including ritual practices, drug peddling, impersonation, and dishonesty.

The university’s decision follows public criticism after Siwajuola’s mother alleged institutional negligence in connection with his disappearance in April.

In an official statement released Wednesday, Dr. Joshua Suleiman, Director of Marketing and Communication, addressed the matter.

According to the university, Siwajuola left the campus without authorization on April 28, disguising himself and exiting through the university’s teaching hospital gate.

“His disappearance was intentional and related to a series of disciplinary infractions,” the statement noted.

Siwajuola returned to campus on May 15, accompanied by his father. Upon return, he reportedly confessed to the following purchasing black soap for ritual purposes tied to Yahoo Yahoo Plus, a form of cybercrime with occult elements, engaging in drug peddling taking a ₦500,000 loan from an online lender to fund gambling activities, impersonating a fellow student to open a bank account and selling his phone and intentionally misleading the buyer.

The university clarified that contrary to his mother’s claims, it was actually the mother of Siwajuola’s friend in Lagos who located him and informed his family.

After conducting an internal investigation, the university found Siwajuola in violation of several institutional policies, leading to his expulsion.

“This decision, while regrettable, is essential to uphold the integrity and safety of our academic environment,” Suleiman said.

The university also dismissed the mother’s public accusations as “baseless,” but confirmed it would not seek legal redress, citing the father’s cooperation during the investigation.
