Chelsea FC has reportedly backed out of negotiations to sign Mike Maignan from AC Milan, this is due to collapsing of the deal over a disagreement in valuation, this is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Premier League giant on Tuesday stated that they were unwilling to meet Milan’s asking price, which reportedly included a premium clause that is tied to the upcoming Club World Cup in America

Fabrizio Romano reported that “Mike Maignan deal now OFF between Chelsea and AC Milan. Chelsea not willing to meet Milan price, deal not proceeding in time for Club World Cup as #CFC won’t pay ‘CWC tax’”

This breakdown in agreement means that Chelsea will not sign the French goalkeeper ahead of the Club World Cup.

Where as, the club is now focusing on their current goalkeepers at the team. Romano noted that Chelsea “maintain full trust in Petrović, Sánchez, Jorgensen and talent Mike Penders for GK role.”
