The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central Senatorial District has formally endorsed the re-election bids of President Bola Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was declared on Sunday during a Unity Meeting held in Ughelli, bringing together party leaders and supporters from across the federal, state, and local levels. Stakeholders at the event cited the performance, leadership qualities, and shared political vision of both Tinubu and Oborevwori as the basis for their support.
The motion to adopt the two as “sole candidates” for the 2027 elections was moved by Hon. Francis Waive, who represents the Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. Waive praised Tinubu’s economic reforms and commended Oborevwori’s leadership since assuming office as governor.
The motion was seconded by former federal lawmaker Halims Agoda and subsequently put to a voice vote by Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central), receiving unanimous approval amid loud cheers from attendees.
In a show of solidarity, participants passed a vote of confidence in both leaders. Those present included National Assembly members, state legislators, commissioners, local government chairmen, federal appointees, and other political officeholders.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Chief Festus Keyamo, SAN, described the gathering as historic, noting that Delta Central had never been more united politically.
“Since 1999, the Urhobo nation and Delta Central have never been this united. We’ve also never delivered 100% to one party in Delta State, but this time around, we will,” Keyamo asserted, expressing optimism that APC would sweep the state in the upcoming elections.
He also highlighted the alignment between Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, saying their partnership holds promise for accelerated development in the state.
“This is no ordinary meeting, this is the Ukodo base. It is fitting that this initiative comes from Delta Central,” he added.
Chief Paulinus Akpeki, APC Chairman in Delta Central, praised Governor Oborevwori for aligning with the APC, describing the move as transformative for Delta politics.
“Today marks a new era of unity, purpose, and shared vision. We reaffirm our resolve to work together as one indivisible political family,” Akpeki said.
Delta State APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, called the gathering a strategic step to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 elections. He lauded members for their unity and dedication.
The event attracted a broad spectrum of the state’s political elite, including 2015 APC governorship candidate Olorogun O’tega Emerhor; Executive Director of NEXIM Bank, Chief Stella Okotete; Chief Adviser to the Governor, Senator Ighoyota Amori; and Chairman of Ughelli North LGA, Chief Jaro Egbo. All pledged to deepen the party’s reach and replicate the Unity Meeting across all eight local government areas in Delta Central, down to the ward and unit levels.
