The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that the mop-up examination for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by JAMB’s Public Communications Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, a total of 96,838 candidates are expected to take part in the exercise. This includes 5,096 spillover candidates, those affected by biometric verification issues during the main UTME, and 91,742 candidates who missed both the main and rescheduled exams.

Candidates have been advised to begin printing their notification slips starting Monday, June 23, 2025, in preparation for the examination, which will be conducted at 183 designated centres nationwide. Some additional candidates have also been placed on standby.

As part of its ongoing effort to uphold examination standards, JAMB confirmed it has delisted 113 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres implicated in various infractions such as technical failures and malpractice. These centres are currently under investigation, and offenders will be prosecuted accordingly.

The Board disclosed that it is also uncovering networks involved in exam fraud, including school owners, tutorial operators, and even some JAMB officials. Several towns have already been removed as exam locations due to irregularities, and affected candidates will be reassigned to nearby centres.

JAMB expressed gratitude to security agencies, including the State Security Service, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, for their role in exposing identity fraud and other criminal activities linked to the exams.

Dr. Benjamin warned that students found impersonating others may face expulsion from their institutions for violating their matriculation oath, in addition to facing legal consequences under the Examination Malpractice Act of 1999.

The Board stated that the first session of the mop-up exam will commence at 8:00 a.m., and candidates are expected to arrive at least one hour before the scheduled start time.

JAMB reaffirmed its commitment to conducting the examination with transparency and fairness, adding that special monitoring teams, including security operatives and trained invigilators, will be deployed to ensure the credibility of the process.
