According to reports by Punch, A resident, Ajadi Olaleye said that firefighters arrived at the scene and successfully rescued the man alive before handing him over to his family for medical attention.

Adebayo Akinwande, Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Service Reform, confirmed the incident in a statement. He said the fire service was alerted at exactly 6:10 a.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025, about a man who had fallen into a well on the premises of the mosque at No. 30 Ajeigbe Street, Molefalafia.

Firefighters, led by ACFS Adedeji, were quickly dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the elderly man trapped inside the well. He had been trying to retrieve his lost phone without assistance when the accident occurred.

The fire crew carried out a careful rescue operation, using proper safety procedures to pull the man out alive. Akinwande attributed the incident to a lack of awareness about the dangers of entering wells without proper training or support.

He urged the public to avoid engaging in life-threatening actions and emphasized the government’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
