The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said that Nigeria would be in a far worse condition without the power of prayer.

Speaking during RCCG’s monthly Thanksgiving service and special prayers for security and paramilitary personnel at the church’s national headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, he urged Nigerians to persist in prayer.

“Some say, ‘You’ve been praying and fasting where is the result?’ I laugh. If we hadn’t prayed, Nigeria would be in a far more terrible state,” Adeboye said.

“If those praying stop even for a week, the outcome would be terrifying. God still rules in the affairs of men. Keep praying He controls the hearts of kings.”

Preaching on the topic “Shadow of the Almighty,” Adeboye described the church’s divine protection, citing what he called miraculous evidence of God’s supernatural covering over RCCG.

“There is a shield over the Redeemed Christian Church of God unseen, but undeniably present,” he said. “I don’t preach denominations, but RCCG is under divine preservation.”

He shared accounts of divine intervention, including a flood in the U.S. that damaged 14 homes but spared a house where an RCCG fellowship held. “House number eight, which displayed a sign for RCCG fellowship, was untouched,” he noted.

Another example he gave was a fire incident at Otedola Bridge in Lagos, where buildings on either side of an RCCG structure were razed, but the church remained unscathed. “That’s not coincidence  that’s divine covering,” he affirmed, with images projected during the service.

Adeboye emphasized that God’s protection, while invisible, is powerful and constant. “Your true security is found in Him in peace or in crisis, the Almighty casts a shadow of protection over His own.”

Earlier, his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye, led prayers for Nigeria’s peace and its leaders. “Let’s ask God to show our president mercy and give him peace to enjoy his tenure,” she prayed.

The service also paid tribute to security and paramilitary personnel, underscoring RCCG’s commitment to interceding for national peace and divine protection.
