The Nigeria Police Force has postponed the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit directive to August 12, 2025, in response to public concerns.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, announced the extension on Saturday through a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi. He explained that the delay is aimed at making the application process more accessible and user-friendly for citizens.
The police said the move is part of their commitment to citizen-focused and transparent policing, as they continue to review both the technical and policy aspects of the permit system.
According to the statement, the additional time will allow for improvements to both the online and physical application processes, enhancing verification systems and minimizing delays.
“The concerns raised by Nigerians have not gone unheard. They are central to the reforms we are implementing to make the system secure, easy to navigate, and open to everyone,” the statement emphasized.
Applicants are urged to submit or renew their permits solely through the official portal and to report any cases of extortion or unauthorized fees.
The Force reiterated its focus on public safety, digital transformation, and better service delivery, and called for public cooperation as the reform process continues.
