Jadon Sancho is set to leave Chelsea at the conclusion of his loan spell on June 30, following unsuccessful negotiations over personal terms for a permanent transfer.
The 25-year-old winger joined Chelsea on loan from Manchester United last summer, in a deal that included a conditional obligation to buy for up to £25 million. However, the clause was dependent on Sancho agreeing to personal terms with the London club—an agreement that ultimately could not be reached.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea will now face a £5 million penalty for not activating the purchase option, leaving Sancho free to consider new opportunities both in England and across Europe.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Sancho made 42 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals and registering ten assists. He played a key role in Chelsea’s UEFA Europa Conference League triumph, finding the net in the final to help the club complete the full set of UEFA trophies.
Sancho originally signed for Manchester United in 2021 from Borussia Dortmund for £85 million. He previously developed in the youth academies of Watford and Manchester City before making his breakthrough in Germany after joining Dortmund in 2017.
