President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno State, calling it a cowardly act.

 

In a statement released on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President expressed deep sorrow over the attack and mourned the victims who lost their lives.

 

“President Bola Tinubu has expressed his anguish over the suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno State, during the weekend,” the statement read. “He mourned the deceased and described the incident as a cowardly attack.”

 

The President urged security forces to step up their operations to eliminate the remaining elements of the Boko Haram insurgency, who he said have turned to attacking vulnerable civilian targets.

 

He further extended his condolences to the Borno State government and its people, directing the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide aid to the injured and affected families.

 

In a related incident, President Tinubu also commiserated with victims of Saturday’s explosion in Kano State, which occurred at a scrap metal facility. The blast affected 15 individuals, with five fatalities confirmed.

 

“The President sympathised with the families of those who lost their lives or were injured in the Kano explosion,” the statement noted.
