Crime and Metro Tragedy in Bauchi as groom, two friends die in crash on wedding day Modupeola Showunmi June 15, 2025 A joyful occasion turned tragic on Saturday as Superintendent of Police Mustapha Garba, an officer with the Bauchi State Police Command, lost his life in a fatal road accident on his wedding day. Garba was traveling with three friends in a Mercedes Benz to his wedding ceremony when the vehicle lost control at Bargan Tsamiya and collided head-on with an oncoming Opel Vectra. Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the command, CSP Mohammed Wakil, described it as a devastating loss. “SP Mustapha Garba was on his way to his wedding when the unfortunate crash occurred,” Wakil said. Upon receiving the tragic news, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Sani-Omolori, immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer of Toro Division to mobilize personnel and evacuate the victims to Toro General Hospital. Sadly, medical personnel confirmed the deaths of the groom and two of his companions. Their bodies have since been released to their families for burial. The untimely death of SP Garba has plunged the Bauchi Police Command into mourning, as friends, colleagues, and loved ones remember the officer whose life was cut short on what was meant to be one of his happiest days.
