The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the prompt and transparent payment of salaries and pensions, clarifying that all employees and pensioners with valid records have been paid up to May 2025.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Ilorin, the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, said the few outstanding cases were due to invalid or incomplete information in the state’s social identity database managed by the Kwara State Social Investment and Residents Registration Agency (KWSRRA).

“As of May 2025, the state government has successfully paid salaries to 97% of its workforce who are properly registered with KWSRRA,” she said. “The remaining 3% of workers who have not received their payments either submitted invalid records or failed to register at all.”

For pensioners at the state level, Dr. Nuru noted that 81.2% with valid KWSRRA registrations had been verified and paid, while 17% have been on hold for over a year due to failure to participate in physical verification exercises or refusal to register. The remaining 1.8% have issues ranging from invalid SSID numbers to being untraceable — some of whom reside abroad or may have passed away.

At the local government level, including the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), 95% of submitted payroll has been disbursed, with the remaining 5% held back due to problems such as mismatched names, invalid SSID or NINs, incorrect personnel numbers, and failure to register with KWSRRA.

Local government pensioners follow a similar pattern, with 76.7% paid and 23.3% held back due to incomplete or invalid records, the commissioner added.

To address these issues, Dr. Nuru revealed the introduction of a secure SMS-based platform by KWSRRA, allowing pensioners to report and resolve payment problems without needing to physically visit government offices.

“Affected pensioners can send an SMS to 08032059986, including their full name, verification number, pension number, bank details, NIN, and KWSRRA SSID,” she said. “Those who’ve lost their SSID can retrieve it by visiting [kwasrra.ng/register/validate](https://kwasrra.ng/register/validate) and entering their NIN.”

The commissioner called on all affected individuals to update their KWSRRA records promptly to ensure uninterrupted payment.

She also cautioned media houses against amplifying unverified claims or political narratives designed to mislead the public, urging journalists to conduct due diligence before publishing content on sensitive governance issues.

“The administration remains firmly committed to salary and pension payments, and the SSID verification is a vital step in enhancing transparency and protecting public funds,” Dr. Nuru concluded.
