Dr. Paul Enenche, Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, has explained why he declined a N30 million donation offered by Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, during a recent crusade held in the state.
Speaking during a Sunday service at the church’s headquarters in Abuja, Enenche said his decision was rooted in a long-standing principle: he does not accept financial contributions from politicians or government officials.
“This may come as a surprise to some, but those who truly know us understand this is our way of life. It’s how we’ve always operated,” he said.
The pastor stressed that his refusal was not a personal rejection of Governor Idris, but rather a firm adherence to a conviction that has shaped his ministry for over 20 years.
He cited a past example from 2014, after accompanying then-President Goodluck Jonathan on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. Upon returning, an honorarium was offered to him but he declined.
“I said no,” Enenche recalled. “Even when the President visited our church, we did not receive any financial gifts.”
He also emphasized that the massive Dunamis church headquarters project was built without any government funding.
“Not a single naira of government money went into this project,” he stated.
Enenche added that he had previously turned down a car gift from a childhood friend who later became a federal minister, as well as offers from former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom.
“I don’t want to touch a kobo of government money,” he said. “That’s what gives me the liberty to speak truthfully and boldly to those in power.”
