Popular comedian-turned-cleric, Woli Arole, has criticised student fellowship leaders in Nigerian universities for allegedly demanding foodstuffs from students as “first fruit” offerings.

Taking to his Instagram page on Monday, Arole condemned the practice, describing it as exploitative. He expressed concern over a growing trend where student leaders in campus fellowships are now referred to as “Papas” and “Mamas,” a title he believes is being misused to manipulate fellow students.

“What nonsense,” he wrote. “I heard they are now calling you ‘Papa and Mama’ on campus because you lead a fellowship, and you’re telling students to bring foodstuffs as their FIRST FRUIT. This is wrong.”

Arole’s remarks have sparked conversations online about leadership ethics and religious practices within student fellowships.
