The All Peoples Congress, APC, in Oyo State, on Tuesday, unveiled what it described as “Operation Recapture Oyo” by flushing the ruling Peoples Democratic Party out of government in 2027.

This decision was made at a meeting of APC chieftains from the ten local governments made up of the Oke-Ogun region, held at Igboho, the headquarters of the Orelope Local Government Area of the state.

The meeting was presided over by the leader of the party and former deputy governor of the state, Iyiola Oladokun.

Oladokun, who spoke on behalf of other party leaders, lamented that “The state has lost its Pace Setter status.”

He condemned the refuse dumps, faeces, blocked drainage, and reoccurrence of kidnappings, especially in the region.

The APC leader, therefore, directed “party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and ensure that every eligible citizen obtained the Permanent Voter’s Card to enable the party defeat PDP in the forthcoming election.

“We have learnt our lessons and mistakes on why we lost a progressive state to the PDP, and we are now ready to install an oriented progressive government in the state in 2027,” he added.

While urging both the party leaders and members to intensify grassroots mobilisation, Oladokun admonished them “to vote en masse for APC so as to flush out the ruling PDP in 2027.”

They had earlier appealed for a power shift in favour of Oke Ogun, especially in selecting the governorship and senatorial candidates for the 2027 general election.

Meanwhile, the state APC, Peace Advocate Group, consisting of former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Akin Onigbinde, former legislators, and public office holders, paid a solidarity visit during the meeting.

The team urged aspirants and their supporters to be peaceful in their political campaigns and mobilisation.

Present at the meeting were former Minister of Communication, Bayo Shitu; former Deputy Governors, Adeyemo Alake, and Rauf Olaniyan; current and former Federal and state legislators; former commissioners; party officers; women and youth leaders, among others.

The meeting passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s administration and reiterated its support for the president’s re-election in 2027.
