The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has directed ministers, political appointees and members of its campaign council to attend only campaign rallies organised in their respective home states ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The directive, contained in a circular signed by the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari, is part of efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and ensure effective coordination of the party’s campaign activities.
According to the circular, the decision is aimed at ensuring that government officials and party stakeholders concentrate their efforts on mobilising voters within their immediate communities rather than moving across different states for campaign events.
The council instructed ministers and other political appointees to focus on their polling units, wards and local government areas in line with its adopted campaign strategy, known as the ‘pyramid concept’.
“Ministers and other political appointees are required to attend only the rallies held in their home States. This is to ensure targeted coordination and implementation of campaign activities,” the circular stated.
The PCC also directed directorates without specific assignments at the rallies to concentrate on implementing their approved work plans and budgets.
On the party’s National Working Committee, Yari said members, except the national chairman, national secretary, national women leader, national youth leader and national organising secretary, should focus on their party responsibilities and mobilisation activities within their respective states and geopolitical zones.
However, the circular clarified that NWC members are also expected to attend campaign rallies organised in their home states.
The campaign council further disclosed plans to use the rallies to increase the visibility of APC candidates seeking election into state Houses of Assembly, the House of Representatives and the Senate.
“Directors are requested to ensure that the contents of this circular are brought to the attention of all officers within their Directorates, and that its provisions are duly observed,” Yari added.
The directive comes as political parties begin preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the APC seeking to consolidate its nationwide support base and secure another term for President Bola Tinubu.
By limiting the participation of ministers and political appointees to rallies in their home states, the campaign council appears to be prioritising local political structures and direct engagement with voters as it prepares for the election.
