Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has reacted with sarcasm to the resignation of ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Responding via a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sani quipped, “Waziri; When the Admin left the group,” likening Atiku’s exit to a group chat admin stepping down, a phrase often used humorously on social media to signal a major departure.
Atiku officially resigned from the PDP on July 16, 2025, in a letter addressed to the chairman of his ward, Jada 1 in Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
In the letter, the former vice president cited irreconcilable differences and claimed the party had strayed from its founding ideals.
The development has sparked political speculation, especially as Atiku is now a prominent figure in the opposition coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Sources suggest he may vie for the coalition’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Atiku, a longstanding figure in Nigerian politics, previously contested the 2023 presidential election under the PDP. His departure marks a significant shift in the country’s political landscape as alliances begin to take shape ahead of the next electoral cycle.
