President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid glowing tribute to the late business mogul and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, describing him as a selfless servant of the nation who embodied the highest ideals of integrity, humility, and generosity.

During a condolence visit to the Dantata family in Kano on Friday, President Tinubu described the late industrialist as “a titan who gave so much of himself to the service of our country and its people.”

Dantata, aged 94, passed away on June 28, 2025, in Dubai and was laid to rest in Madina, Saudi Arabia, on July 1.

“This visit is deeply personal to me,” Tinubu said. “I came to console the Dantata family and the people of Kano. He was more than a respected figure,he was like family. During my presidential campaign in 2023, I sought his prayers and counsel. He blessed me, and I promised to return in gratitude. Instead, he came to Abuja. That was his nature, humble, sincere, and selfless.”

The President praised the late statesman for his unwavering honesty, compassion, and generosity, saying he lived a life devoted to others.

“If friendship and goodwill extend beyond this world, Dantata will surely be among those feeding the hungry and comforting the sick in the hereafter. He lived for others.”

President Tinubu extended his condolences to the Dantata family, the government and people of Kano State, and all Nigerians, describing the deceased as “the conscience of our nation.”

“We have lost a giant. May Allah, in His infinite mercy, grant him Aljannah Firdaus,” the President prayed, also offering words of comfort and strength to the bereaved.

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, speaking on behalf of the state, thanked President Tinubu for his heartfelt support during the mourning period. He recalled that the President had earlier sent a high-powered federal delegation, led by the Minister of Defence, to attend Dantata’s burial rites in Saudi Arabia.

Tajudeen Dantata, the eldest son of the deceased, expressed deep appreciation to the President for his presence and continued support.

“Your Excellency, we are grateful for your swift and sincere response after our father’s passing. You honored him in life, and even more so in death. You showed us he was more than a friend, you regarded him as a brother. We will strive to uphold the values he stood for.”

The Dantata family pledged to carry on the legacy of service, compassion, and integrity that defined the life of their patriarch.
