The Uyo Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has raided a cybercrime training centre known as ‘Yahoo-Yahoo Hustle Kingdom’ in Umuahia, Abia State.
The operation led to the arrest of 23 suspects, including eight trainees undergoing instruction in internet fraud.
The training centre was discovered inside the Doofco Palace building, located behind Government College, Umuahia.
The EFCC revealed that while eight suspects were caught on-site, the remaining 15 were arrested in related operations across Umudike, Ahiaeke, and Umugu areas of Umuahia.
Those detained include Toona Henry, Tavershima Solomon, Chi Orseer James, Ubee Benjamin, Gabriel Ibe Ifeanyi, Tindue Godwin, Muhammed Terwase Michael, and Destiny Andrew, among others.
Recovered items from the arrests include two vehicles, 15 laptops, and 34 mobile phones.
The EFCC confirmed that all suspects will face prosecution in court.
