The Olubadan-designate of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has pledged to promptly address all pending vacancies within the Olubadan chieftaincy line following his formal ascension as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Ladoja made this known in a statement issued by his media aide, Adeola Oloko, after receiving the Asipa Olubadan, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, at his Lagos residence on Monday.
Reflecting on the recent passing of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, Ladoja said, “I was not in Ibadan when Kabiyesi Olakulehin joined his ancestors on Monday, July 7, 2025.” He described the late monarch as a revered ruler who lived a meaningful life and served his people with distinction.
“There will be no delay in filling every pending vacancy in the Olubadan chieftaincy line,” the Olubadan-designate assured.
During the visit, Oba Kola-Daisi offered condolences to Ladoja and expressed his unwavering loyalty and support as he prepares to ascend the throne.
Oba Ladoja, who has remained outside Ibadan since the demise of Oba Olakulehin, is expected to return to the city this weekend.
According to information obtained by the Nigerian Tribune, the burial ceremony for the late monarch is tentatively scheduled for Friday, August 8, 2025, at Saint Peter’s Cathedral, Aremo, Ibadan. The traditional enthronement rites for Oba Ladoja will follow shortly thereafter.
Before the rites begin, the Olubadan Advisory Council will convene to formally nominate Oba Ladoja as the next Olubadan. The nomination will be led by the Balogun Olubadan, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, and seconded by the Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole. The nomination will then be forwarded to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for approval, after which the traditional processes will commence.
