Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State was visibly emotional on Tuesday as he attended the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura.
The late president, who passed away on Sunday evening at the age of 82 in a London clinic, was buried in the garden of his private residence following funeral prayers held at a nearby helipad.
A widely shared video captures the moment Radda, overwhelmed with grief, wept as Buhari’s body was laid to rest.
Paying tribute, the governor described Buhari as “an embodiment of the common man’s aspirations,” and referred to him as “a father figure whose footsteps I have endeavoured to follow.”
“From his early days as a military leader to his transformative presidency, President Buhari never forgot his roots,” Radda said.
“He remained deeply connected to the soil of Katsina and the hearts of its people. His passing leaves an irreplaceable void in our collective consciousness.”
He further urged Nigerians to honor Buhari’s legacy by continuing his people-first approach to leadership.
“As we mourn this irreparable loss, we must also celebrate a life well-lived in service to humanity. President Buhari’s legacy will continue to inspire generations of leaders.”
