The Kwara State Government has commenced the construction of new office buildings in Ilorin to enhance efficiency and service delivery within the public sector.
At a brief ceremony held at the project site, located adjacent to the Deputy Governor’s Office within the Government House premises, the site was officially handed over to the contractor, Mapet Construction Ltd.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Segun Ogunsola, clarified that contrary to circulating misinformation, the government is not constructing a new Government House. He described such claims as baseless and misleading.
Dr. Ogunsola said the new office complex is one of several ongoing projects under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration aimed at improving the working environment for public and civil servants in the state.
“The one-storey building will feature a conference room and multiple office spaces to accommodate the growing workforce and support efficient governance,” he said.
He emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to close supervision of the project to ensure quality delivery within the stipulated one-year timeline. He also urged the contractor to adhere strictly to project specifications.
“These offices are designed to fill existing infrastructure gaps and align with modern administrative standards, ultimately enhancing governance and bringing more democratic benefits to both rural and urban communities,” Ogunsola added.
The event was attended by key stakeholders including the General Manager of the Kwara State Public Procurement Agency, QS Raheem Abdulbaki; Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaja Risikat Atinuke; Director of Administration and Finance, Government House, Alhaji Shina Akorede; and the representative of Baron Architecture, Adepeju Ogunsakin.
Architect Awolola Emmanuel Tolulope, representing the contractor, assured the gathering of the company’s capacity to deliver quality work, citing a strong track record of timely and efficient project execution. He pledged to complete the project within the one-year timeframe.
