The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the resumption of upkeep payments to student beneficiaries who have updated their account details from digital wallets to traditional commercial bank accounts.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Fund’s Director of Corporate Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFUND confirmed that the move represents a major step toward resolving previous delays in disbursement.
“More than 3,600 students who had initially provided digital-only banking details have now successfully received their outstanding upkeep allowances after updating their bank information on the NELFUND portal,” the statement said.
Oluwatuyi expressed appreciation to the affected students for their patience and cooperation, which he said contributed to the progress achieved.
Guidance for Students Still Awaiting Payment
Students who have yet to receive their upkeep payments and are still using digital wallet accounts are advised to submit a support ticket through the official NELFUND portal to request permission to update their bank details. Alternatively, they can report their cases through their institution’s IT department, which will forward the compiled list to NELFUND for further action.
The Fund emphasized its ongoing commitment to ensuring that all eligible students are supported. This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve the efficiency, transparency, and student-focused nature of its loan services.
Students are also encouraged to use only official NELFUND communication channels and assist others who may need help navigating the update process.
“We deeply appreciate your continued patience and support as we work to make the student loan experience more reliable and inclusive,” the statement concluded.
