The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has resumed the disbursement of upkeep allowances to student beneficiaries who have updated their bank details from digital wallets to commercial bank accounts.
In a statement released on Friday, the Director of Corporate Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, described the move as a major milestone in addressing previous delays in fund distribution.
“Over 3,600 students who initially registered with digital-only banking platforms have now received their outstanding upkeep payments after successfully updating their bank information on the NELFUND portal,” the statement said.
“We sincerely appreciate the patience and understanding shown by affected students during this process. Your cooperation has played a crucial role in achieving this breakthrough.”
Students who have not yet received their allowances and are still using digital wallet accounts are advised to submit a support request via the official NELFUND portal to gain access to update their banking information. Alternatively, they can report through their institution’s IT department, which will collate and forward all related cases to NELFUND for resolution.
NELFUND reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that no eligible student is left behind, emphasizing that this resolution effort is part of a broader initiative to improve service efficiency, transparency, and student-focused delivery.
The statement concluded with a reminder for students to use only official NELFUND communication channels and to assist peers who may need help with the update process.
“We thank all students once again for their patience and continued support as we work to build a more inclusive and reliable student loan system,” Oluwatuyi added.
