Ralph Nwosu, founder and former national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has firmly stated that no political pressure or inducement from the current administration will stop the party’s mission to build a formidable opposition alliance.
In an interview with Arise News on Wednesday, Nwosu alleged that the Federal Government is actively trying to destabilize the ADC by offering political appointments and engineering internal sabotage.
“No form of inducement can stop the ADC,” Nwosu declared. “At our recent NEC meeting, I issued a clear warning to the presidency and its so-called democrats. Their actions are eroding the democratic foundations we’ve worked so hard to establish.”
When pressed on the nature of the inducements, Nwosu claimed that emissaries linked to the presidency had approached him with various offers, including ministerial roles.
“I’ve received calls, attended meetings — some even outside Nigeria,” he said, declining to name individuals. “But I’ve issued my final warning. If they continue, we will take decisive action.”
Responding to a denial from Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication, Nwosu maintained that government-backed agents are working against the ADC, including filing court cases aimed at derailing the party’s coalition efforts.
“These individuals are taking us to court, pretending to oppose our moves and they’re being protected. We know who they are, and we have evidence,” he asserted.
He also criticized what he described as the misuse of public funds, saying, “They’re riding around in SUVs, staying in luxury hotels. Meanwhile, I who led this party until yesterday can’t afford such extravagance.”
Turning his focus to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Nwosu accused the party of trying to buy influence.
“Some in the APC think everyone has a price. And when an offer is rejected, they just increase it. But this time, they’ve failed.”
